Jamie Hall is a bench jeweller and historical metalworking specialist
After completing his apprenticeship, Jamie undertook a residency at Loughborough University that focused on bullion manufacturing in the Middle Ages. Building on this work, he has become a specialist in medieval craft technologies, using practice-based research methodologies to replicate and better understand forgotten craft processes. As a result, he has developed important new theories about the complex world of the medieval goldsmith and its influence on the evolution of present day jewellery industry technologies.
In addition to his research work, Jamie provides research services to TV and other media, gives interactive demonstrations at museums, and studies the Staffordshire Hoard
