Julian Ellis is a Fellow of The Textile Institute based in Nottinghamshire and an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham.
Julian Ellis is a Fellow of The Textile Institute, and an honorary professor in the faculty of engineering at the University of Nottingham. He has spent much of his career in research and development, beginning with Courtaulds Research Division in Coventry.
Julian set up Ellis Developments in 1985, to develop a series of artificial ligaments that became best selling products of their type and benefitted 120,000 patients across Europe.
He has since developed embroidery techniques for application in composites, working with companies including Ford Motor Company and Airbus. He has also successfully applied these methods to a number of surgical implant systems for spinal, orthopaedic and vascular surgery.
