Karin Paynter is a traditionally trained silversmith, has a background in commercial jewellery design, production management and cutting edge research in haptics and new technologies.
An award winning designer and Royal College of Art graduate, she has been involved with a range of diverse creative projects, which have included CADCAM designed market led cufflink collections for Tateossian London, the management of jewellery collections for Branson Coates’ Body Zone at the Millennium Dome and the rebranding of the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Technical Journal of which she was Editor and Art Director for ten years.
A technically skilled manufacturer and new technology and materials researcher, she has directed a series of craft skills training films; was responsible for the Technical Help Desk, professional development initiatives and large annual trade events at Goldsmiths’ Hall in support of the jewellery trade and industry. Most recently, she was part of the senior management team of the Goldsmiths’ Company’s charitable project for education and training, The Goldsmiths’ Centre, which opened in 2012.

Karin is a freelance creative and technical consultant. Recent collaborations have included work with high-end jewellery manufacturers, the Contemporary British Silversmiths and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
